Walkies
The third annual Paws on the Promenade – a dog-walk fund-raiser in aid of Khayelitsha’s Mdzananda Animal Clinic – will be held on the Sea Point promenade on Sunday February 18, at 9am. The 5km route is from the Mouille Point lighthouse to the Sea Point swimming pool and back. There are shorter turnaround points for old, tired and injured pets (or humans). You can book a stray pet to join you on the walk by emailing info@mdzananda.co.za. Tickets cost R40 per person and R40 per dog and are available on Quicket at www.qkt.io/pawsonprom. Celebrity cook off
Celebrity cook and film-maker Justin Bonello will share his passion for food at Jonkershuis Restaurant Courtyard, Groot Constantia Estate, on Thursday February 22, from 6pm. The event is in aid of the Sunflower Fund. The cost is R950 and includes arrival drinks, a meal, wine and the opportunity to mingle with Justin. Cansa Shavathon
The annual Cansa Shavathon will take place at shopping centres on Saturday February 24 and Sunday February 25, and at workplaces from Monday February 26 to Friday March 2. The shaving or spraying of heads is a symbolic gesture in support of cancer patients and survivors who lose their hair while undergoing treatment. Adults pay R50 and children younger than 12 pay R25. Jehovah’s Witnesses gathering
Jehovah’s Witnesses will gather at 16 Stellenberg, Bellair, Bellville, during the weekend of Saturday and Sunday March 17 and March 18. Sessions start at 9.40am and continue to 3.55pm with a break from 12.05pm to 1.20pm. Everyone is welcome to come and listen to the Bible-based speeches, interviews, demonstrations and experiences. No collections are made and admission is free. Take your Bible and notebook along.
