Clicks’ Kenilworth Centre branch was due to reopen yesterday, Wednesday May 20, with a different staff team after it was professionally decontaminated when a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus last week.
Clicks chief store operations officer, Sedick Arendse, said one of their staff members was sent home last week with flu-like symptoms.
“The staff member subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating for 14 days and measures have been put in place to assist the staff member. We thank everyone for their understanding and support during this time.”
The Clicks’ Kenilworth Centre branch was closed on Tuesday May 19 to allow for deep-cleaning.
All staff who work closely with the staff member are being tested and monitored for symptoms, and those who have been in close contact will self-isolate pending their Covid-19 test results.
Mr Arendse said they are taking stringent preventative measures to ensure the safety of customers and staff. “All the necessary protocols were immediately implemented as per the business response plan and as per guidelines from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) and the Department of Health. The NICD has been informed,” he said.
