The Claremont Improvement District Company (CIDC) honoured their best security officers and their best cleaners at an appreciation breakfast held at the Southern Sun hotel in Newlands last Friday.
CIDC security officer Raymond Qulu was the security officer of the year and Zuko Hlathi was runner-up.
“I am honoured to receive this award; it’s not always easy working in the public spaces in Claremont, though as time went on, I learned well on the job,” said Mr Qulu.
The CIDC “cleaner of the year” award went to Songezo Ngindana and Alice Januarie was runner-up. “I am a hard worker, and I know that I always do the job right. Whenever they need me, I am available,” said Mr Ngindana.
CIDC executive manager Abdul Kerbelker said the non-profit company promoted safety and cleanliness. “Every security officer and cleaner has been part of that journey, and those who won the awards are symbolic of all the officers and cleaners of the organisation.”
