A non-profit company in Kenilworth is helping entrepreneurs and small businesses find their feet.
Amiena Pastor started I Deserve It eight years ago, running it out of her home in Lansdowne before it moved to its premises in Kenilworth earlier this year.
“I Deserve It became a platform for start-up businesses, we provide a supporting platform from the beginning to the customer level,” said Ms Pastor.
At their office in Kenilworth they offer short courses in sewing, photography, soap and candle making and floristry so that people can provide an income for themselves.
They mentor people who have ideas for products and businesses but not the business savvy or social-media know-how to get them off the ground.
I Deserve It holds three to four community events annually where small businesses can market their products to the public.
Tazkiah Williams, from Splash Lazer Cutting and Engraving, whose company specialises in making customised wood art, wall art and engravings, said I Deserve It had helped her company with networking and making contacts in the business world.
“They are very helpful. If I need advice, I can talk to them for guidance,” she said.
Basheera Fakier from Sweet Miracles in Belgravia Estate, specialises in making cakes, cupcakes and éclairs. She said I Deserve It had helped her identify the right market.
“They opened my eyes to see what is needed to improve on and gave me the benchmark to measure success.”
