Award-winning South African composer Grant McLachlan’s original music, spanning 40 years, will be performed live at his 60th birthday concert at the Baxter Concert Hall from 8.15pm on Saturday October 1.
Included is guest artist and double bass player Leon Bosch, who will premier McLachlan’s Sonatina written for double bass.
Other performers include Peter Martens, Suzanne Martens, Albie Van Skalkwyk , Lucia Di Blasio Scott, Barbara Kennedy, Bridget Rennie Salonen and Tertia Visser Downie.
The concert ends with a special performance of Mr McLachlan’s world famous Christmas carol Come Colours Rise.
All this and more promises to be an unforgettable evening of original music played by incredibly talented musicians.
A portion of the concert’s profits will go towards an ongoing bursary fund to enable worthy young students to attend the annual Franschhoek Chamber Music Workshop.
