Volunteers of the World Mission Society Church of God in Rondebosch came out to support the Cape Peninsula Marathon, which saw 6 000 runners participate, on Sunday February 19. More than 100 people, including employees, university students, their friends and neighbours spent their Sunday handing out water to the runners at the start of the race, which began at 5.30am. The volunteers prepared their own posters for cheering and singing, creating a festive atmosphere at the marathon and assisted with cleaning up after the event. “We are here at 4.15am in order to prepare for cheering on the runners. The time does not matter at all because we find joy in what we are doing”, said volunteer David Kanana.
