Southern suburbs schools and pupils were among the province’s top matric achievers, who were feted as “bright shining stars” during an awards ceremony at Leeuwenhof, Premier Helen Zille’s official residence, last week. Education MEC Debbie Schäfer thanked matrics, teachers and parents alike for bumping up the Western Cape’s pass rate from 84.7 percent in 2015 to 86 percent in 2016.
Bronson Luke Rudner from SACS received an award for excellence in mathematics.
Ms Zille congratulates Hannah Jane Clayton from Rustenburg High School for Girls, who came second place in the province and also received an award for excellence in mathematics.
Emma Katherine Leslie from Herschel Girls School made the merit list with seven distinctions. With her are Premier Helen Zille, MEC for Education Debbie Schäfer and Head of Department Brian Schreuder.
