The UCT Irma Stern Museum’s new winter exhibition of botanical art, Tipping Point: Threatened Plants of Southern Africa, is on until Saturday July 27. It features 32 paintings from the Botanical Artist’s Association of Southern Africa (BAASA) with contributions by 19 artists, including Chris Lochner, Elbe Joubert, Vicki Thomas and Margaret de Villiers. There are 20 paintings from six other artists on loan from private collections. The exhibition will include a pop-up tea room on Wednesdays, from 10.30am until 12.30pm, and curator Mary van Blommestein will give walkabouts on Wednesday at 11am. This is the first exhibition at the museum to use an interactive touch screen that allows visitors to learn more about the artworks and the artists. The museum is open from Tuesdays to Fridays, from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays, from 10am to 2pm. Call 021 650 7240 or visit www.irmasternmuseum.org.za for more information.Â
