The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers will be hosting their open day on Saturday November 16 and Sunday November 17 at its club in Croquet Lane, behind the Rondebosch Croquet Club, from 9am to 4pm.
Entry costs R20 for adults and R10 for children older than 6.
There will be rides on the 5-inch gauge live steam engine, from 9am to noon and again from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Theclubhasafully-equipped workshop with lathes, milling machines and a shaper and members will be performing engineering tasks to demonstrate how the equipment works.
Shaun le Roux from Cape Model Trains will be displaying various items of South African Railway equipment and memorabilia and Steve Norman from Bestoys will be displaying model cars which will also be for sale.
Magazines and books will be sold at bargain prices. Refreshments will be on sale.
Proceeds from the event will be used for maintenance of the clubhouse and to fund various club projects.
