British piano duo David Nettle and Richard Markham will give a fundraiser for the Cape Town Concert Series Kramer Jubilee Trust on Saturday November 12 at the Baxter Concert Hall.
The pair will play works for two pianos by Hummel (Introduction and Rondo in E flat), the Andante and Variations in B flat by Schumann, Scherzo and also Polonaise by Saint-Saens and Concertino by Ravel. The pianists will end the programme with a transcription they composed on Ravel’s lively Bolero.
In the 40 years that Nettle and Markham have been performing, having met as students at the Royal College and the Royal Academy respectively in London, they have become one of the most acclaimed piano duos, not only performing on two pianos but with four hands on one. Playing in some 35 countries, they have been acclaimed for their expertise. vitality, remarkable ensemble, infectious enthusiasm and musical integrity. Their comprehensive discography will see the inclusion soon of the complete works for four hands by Schumann and Saint-Saens.
