■ Visiting Taiwanese jazz musicians Chi-pin Hsieh, left, and Kai-ya Chang will join local musicians for a series of special performances in Cape Town. They have created their own distinctive sound, which traverses a wide selection of musical styles: swing, bop, fusion, funk to which they add “Taiwanese flavour”. They will perform with Cape Town jazz musicians Amanda Tiffin, Shaun Johannes and Kevin Gibson; and African music maestro Dizu Plaatjies, in the Chisholm Recital Room, at UCT’s South African College of Music on Sunday October 15, at 6.30pm, before Plaatjies flies off to perform in Taiwan.
