The Cape Town Marimba Festival takes place at the Baxter concert hall on Friday April 26 at 7.30pm. The festival – in its 10th year – is a joint partnership with the Cape Town Big Bands Jazz Festival and Woodworx Marimbas, an African marimba company that supports outreach bands and projects helping children from townships and poor communities. Performing this year, will be marimba bands from Edgemead High, Micklefield, Edgemead Primary, Herschel High, Forres Preparatory School, Rustenburg Girls’ High, Pinelands High, Ned Doman, Mountview High, Manenberg Secondary, Seamount Primary, amaWolseley, Music Works, AISCT, Reddam House Constantia, Parklands College, St Joseph’s Marist College, Groote Schuur High and Handevat Marimba Band.
