Actress, director and teacher Jennie Reznek launched a companion work to her play, I Turned Away and She Was Gone, at Observatory’s Magnet Theatre last week. Publisher Colleen Higgs said Reznek had submitted the book under poetry. “We loved it, this play script, poetry, it falls under both,” she said inside the theatre before two segments from the the one-woman play were performed. The story draws from the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone and the set is simple – a table with flowers, a chair and a bathtub. After the performance, poet and performer Koleka Putuma discussed the play with Reznek who then signed copies.
