Rustenburg Girls’ High School, SACS and Rondebosch Boys’ High School are collaborating on a mass choral and orchestral work, The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, at the Cape Town City Hall on Tuesday July 23 and Wednesday July 24. The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace is a work by the Welsh composer, Sir Karl Jenkins, for choir, orchestra and soloists. Rustenburg Girls’ High spokesperson, Geila Wills, said the production demanded meticulous planning and combined rehearsals had taken place since February. Composer Alexander Fokkens is conducting the three school choirs and orchestra in this work. Soloists Brittany Smith, a soprano; Vasti Knoesen, a mezzo-soprano; Makudupanyane Senaoana, a tenor, and Barend van der Westhuizen, a baritone, will also be performing in this production. The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R150 and can booked on Quicket.
